Single page application and component-based development have become the preferred approaches on the web, many web frameworks are now being created. Moreover, some of them are developed and supported by some of the world’s most reputable companies. React is one of the best-known libraries among them. Popularity of the React ecosystem has skyrocketed in the last few years. Companies have started to migrate their web projects to React, thus creating many React developers as a result. Developers and especially the ones with no JavaScript experience had difficult times when adapting themselves to the React environment. Immature ecosystems and constant uncertainty in the development environment has created confusion with developers and created dirty code bases.

Commencis’ web front-end team also took the hard road and learned many lessons along the way. We wanted to make sure others didn’t have to face the same challenges, so we aimed to share our React experience with other developers. We also thought, it’s always a better and easier way to create communities through face-to-face events instead of online activities. Commencers organized this event to gather the React community to foster discussions and learn further about React.

During the daylong seminar, we discussed the React and React Native platforms, as well as the basics, state management approaches, styling solutions and cross-platform development experiences. Everyone had a chance to get familiar with many modern front-end technologies and methodologies in six sessions.

The event was a great opportunity for attendees to ask questions and share their own react experiences. Entrepreneurs also had a chance to extend their networks and introduce job opportunities fitted for React.

Those without the React experience were a little tired, but happy at the end of the day. They eagerly learned the basics of the ecosystem and took plenty of notes for further readings. Experienced React users benefited from our real project experiences of React Native and React Native Web. At the end of the day, we all had fun and participants were given awards after a quiz.

Commencis team was elated to have been a part of this organization and to have received such positive feedback from its participants. The React community requested further new events and workshops to dive deeper into the React ecosystem. React Turkey community has welcomed 200 members more to their Meetup group and Slack channel after React Day. This is another source of contentment for Commencers.
