Commencis AI Team Takes 2nd Place in the OpenAI to Z Challenge
Commencis AI Team won 2nd place in the OpenAI to Z Challenge, a global competition with 10,000+ participants pushing the boundaries of AI in archaeology.
Commencis AI Team has secured 2nd place in the OpenAI to Z Challenge, a global competition with over 10,000 participants focused on using AI to discover previously unknown archaeological sites in the Amazon rainforest.
Stretching across nine countries and covering more than 6 million sq km, the Amazon holds centuries of human history, much of it hidden beneath dense vegetation. Learn more about the competition and AI-driven archaeology in National Geographic’s coverage here.
Commencis AI Team’s project, GlyphTrack: Detection of Anomalies Under Canopy, combines remote sensing, machine learning, and GPT reasoning to detect pre-Columbian geoglyphs beneath the forest canopy. By analyzing subtle landscape anomalies in satellite and elevation data, GlyphTrack pinpoints promising areas and generates context-aware insights for archaeologists, helping bring long-lost civilizations to light.
