Good mentorship doesn’t just happen; it’s designed. In our latest blog post, we take a closer look at what intentional mentorship actually looks like in practice through the lens of Commencis’ Design Internship Program. When mentoring is left unstructured, interns are often uncertain about their progress, feedback loops break down, and the quality of the experience becomes entirely dependent on luck and personal effort.
That’s why we approached mentorship the same way we approach design: with users, needs, structure, and iteration at the center. The result is a five-pillar program built around masterclasses, a multi-mentor ecosystem, weekly growth-focused syncs, a Demo Day, and personalized career talks that together turn mentorship into a designed journey rather than an abstract relationship.
The impact speaks for itself. Interns leave with stronger presentation skills, greater design confidence, and a clearer sense of their career direction, with many going on to join Commencis or other companies as designers shortly after.
