Job description

 

As part of the Engineering team within Commencis, you will be responsible for the line management of one technical and operational development function that is responsible for the successful and value driven design, development and deployment of client /product projects.

We are not only looking for an outstanding technical background but also an agile leader who understands business dynamics and has experience in a matrix organization. The team currently splits between two locations; Istanbul and Izmir, and continues to grow in both places. You will be managing one development team consisting over 20+ individuals, with a mix of skills and levels, working on 15+ different customer projects at any given time through your collaboration with Project Managers.

 

Responsibilities

As a Software Development Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Technical leadership and line management of the team
  • The recruitment and future growth of the team with high caliber individuals
  • Career development, objective setting and performance reviews of direct line reports
  • Supply and demand management of resources including project allocation and resource forecasting Identification of teams training and development needs and strategies
  • Ensuring a common understanding about the rationale and constraints of the project, and support team members to remain in line with the project targets.
  • Joint accountability for definition of quality standards, tools and processes, implementation of company-wide processes, policies and strategies
  • Technical governance of the aforementioned standards
  • Ensuring implementation alignment with enterprise architectural vision and strategies
  • Project quality and joint accountability for timely delivery and project cost in association with the project delivery teams.
  • Technical impact assessment, governance and effort estimation for new project requirements
  • Being Technical/Operational escalation contact
  • Continual contribution to improvements to ways of working, tooling and processes

 

Desirable

Successful candidates are likely to have;

  • Sc. degree in Engineering; especially in Computer, Software or IT disciplines are particularly encouraged to apply
  • 10 years of experience in software development industry with min. 3 years of line management experience of development team/s in a global company
  • In depth understanding of the full software development lifecycle
  • Experience in working with bespoke/custom projects in software development organizations with end-user / front-end applications
  • Comfortable with a Matrix management environment
  • Experience in mobile applications and/or financial services will be considered as a plus
  • Working closely with visual and/or interaction designer teams
  • Customer focused, dependable solution oriented, hardworking, team focused
  • Excellent organizational and proven communication skills and English knowledge
  • Ability to a systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to problem solving
  • Ability to produce written work to a consistently high standard Creative Positive and “Can-Do” Attitude
  • A strong balance between technical skills and management skills
