The position in a nutshell

As a Cloud Data Engineer, you will be a part of our Cloud Engineering team and will be taking hands-on technical ownership of 2-3 client implementation projects simultaneously and driving them towards value realization by understanding and translating the client’s business needs. You will apply your cloud, data, and architecture skills working with cloud-based resources to define standards and processes for the development and deployment of scalable, reliable applications. By communicating effectively with stakeholders throughout projects, Data Engineers provide underlying infrastructure, ensure application of the correct business logic, and translation of raw data into analysis-ready datasets through various computing methods. The focus of a Cloud Data Engineer’s daily work is ingesting new data sources, building data pipelines by writing transformations, and deriving new datasets for both new and known data sources.

Qualifications & Experience

• BS/MS degree in Computer Science / Computer Engineering or related field
• Knowledge of data management fundamentals, data storage principles, and distributed systems
• Experience working with cloud infrastructure (at least one of Azure, AWS, GCP)
• Experience with batch and streaming data pipelines, workflow engines, distributed computing technologies (Spark, Kafka, Hadoop, Kinesis, SQS, Datapipeline, S3, Quicksight, etc.).
• Data Warehousing Experience with AWS Redshift, BigQuery, etc.
• Experience with Relational Database Systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, etc.)
• Experience with NoSQL Databases (DynamoDB, MongoDB, Cassandra, etc.)
• Experience in developing software in Java and/or Python
• Fluent in written and spoken English
• Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
• Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language

Nice to have

• AWS Certified Data Analytics Certification or GCP Data engineer Professional Certification
• Implementation and tuning experience specifically using Amazon Elastic Map Reduce (EMR).
